FAMOTIDINE TABLET


•Famotidine belongs to a class of H2 antihistamine.


 •Famotidine used in the treatment of Hyperacidity, Heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux disease (acid reflux) and peptic ulcer disease.


•Apart from this, Famotidine tablet is also consumed with medicines that cause gastric irritation such as NSAIDs and oral steroids.


HOW FAMOTIDINE WORKS


Famotidine is a histamine H2 receptor antagonist. It works by reducing the acid produced in the stomach. This helps to relieve acid-related indigestion and heartburn.


SIDE EFFECTS OF FAMOTIDINE TABLET

•Sleepiness
•Headache
•Tiredness
•Constipation
•Diarrhea


CONTRAINDICATIONS OF FAMOTIDINE

Don't use Famotidine tablet in cases like Pregnancy, Breastfeeding, Kidney related issues and Liver problems without consulting your doctor.


DOSAGE OF FAMOTIDINE TABLET


For Adults, Famotidine 20 mg orally twice a day or 40 mg orally once a day after the evening meal or at bedtime.
Famotidine tablet may be taken with or without food.


FAMOTIDINE  INTERACTION

Famotidine can interact with following medicines :
•Atazanavir
•Dasatinib
•Delavirdine
•Ketoconazole
•Itraconazole

If you take any above medicines,ask your doctor if Famotidine Tablet are safe.


Quick Information Regarding Famotidine Tablet -


•If you are also taking other medications to treat acidity (e.g., antacid), take them 2 hours before or after taking Famotidine Tablet.

•Avoid taking soft drinks, citrus fruits like orange and lemon, which can irritate the stomach and increase acid secretion.

•Inform your doctor if you do not feel better after taking Famotidine Tablet for 2 weeks as you may be suffering from some other problems.

•Do not stop taking the medication without talking to your doctor.
